Monthly Homework Calendar
It is WCPSS policy that all students have homework. With that being said, I do my best to make sure the assignments I give are helpful and/or informative and should not take more than 20 minutes daily. Homework does not have to be done all at once. Your child can do 5 minutes after playing when they get home, 10 minutes after dinner, and 5 minutes at bedtime. At the beginning of each month, a sheet will be placed in your child’s Homework Folder explaining your child’s homework for the month. Please keep that sheet at home in a safe place (such as on the refrigerator) and refer to it each week. Assignments will be sent home weekly on Fridays. They should be completed each night in order to develop good homework habits; however, since homework is sent home on Friday, you can get a head start working on assignments in case you have any busy nights in the upcoming week. Plan ahead. Do not leave all assignments to be completed Thursday evening. Since homework is given a week in advance, it is expected that it will be completed. Developing good homework habits is very important. If your child has to spend more time to complete the assignments, write a note in the Home-School Connection and stop. Also, your child should read or listen to you read every night from any available source. Hopefully reading will be a pleasure and not necessarily part of the homework time.
